Store closure

ESLITE Spectrum, a subsidiary of Eslite Bookstore, announced on its official WeChat account Friday that it is closing its branch in Shenzhen due to gloomy predictions of profitability, partly caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

After a friendly agreement with its owner, China Resources Land, Eslite Spectrum decided that it will close its Shenzhen store Dec. 31 this year. Eslite, a Taiwan-based bookstore chain, has made inroads in the Chinese market since 2012. The Shenzhen outlet was opened Dec. 15, 2018.

Case acceptance

THE number of administrative cases accepted by Shenzhen courts increased significantly last year, 55.8 percent higher than in 2018, Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court said in a press conference Friday.

Courts at the district level and city level accepted 16,274 administrative cases and concluded 14,322 cases in 2019, with a year-on-year increase of 55.8 percent and 56.9 percent, respectively, both reaching record highs.

Metro air con

THE differentiated air-conditioning service has been applied to seven lines operated by Shenzhen Metro Group.

Two carriages at both ends of a train have weaker air-conditioned carriages, while the other four carriages in between will have stronger air-conditioned carriages. The two types of carriages have 1-2 degrees Celsius difference in temperature.
