Story contest tells tales of Dongjiang guerrilla column
    2020-07-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The “Top Spring Cup” primary school student storytelling contest wrapped up through live-streaming on Sunday. Li Fu from Pingshan Center Primary School and Qiao Ziling from Qiaoxiang School of Shenzhen Futian Experimental Education Group won the gold awards.

Initiated last September and attracting over 10,000 primary school students from Shenzhen, the contest featured tales of the Dongjiang guerilla column during the War of Chinese People’s Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, following the publishing of a book series on the guerilla column by Shenzhen Press Group Publishing House.

According to Huang Ling, a staffer with the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, the contest offers an opportunity for students to learn about the red history of Shenzhen and the revolutionary spirit of the Dongjiang column that was based in areas around Shenzhen.

The book series, consisting of 10 picture books, was based on true stories of the Dongjiang column and includes war hero tales as well as stories of major events during the war period.

The competition was organized by Shenzhen Children’s Literature Society and the Shenzhen Press Group Publishing House and sponsored by the Top Spring International Holdings Limited’s charity foundation.
