Karen Lee karenlee@sz.tsinghua.edu.cn The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Education Alliance of Shenzhen was officially established on July 14 through an online launching ceremony hosted by Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (Tsinghua SIGS). Over 130 representatives from 17 higher education institutions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area participated in the event, witnessing a new stage of cooperation among universities in Shenzhen. Following the launch, the graduation ceremony of the Tsinghua i-Space Innovation Camp was held, and an Innovation Challenge focusing on epidemic prevention also kicked off. Xu Jianling, deputy director of the Shenzhen Education Bureau, said in his address that the establishment of the alliance is of great significance to universities in Shenzhen. “It will help us explore new models of innovation and entrepreneurship education, promote the co-creation and sharing of resources and nurture high-caliber innovative and entrepreneurial talents,” he said. Xu looks forward to the addition of other universities, research institutes and enterprises to the alliance in the future. Gao Hong, executive dean of Tsinghua SIGS, expressed hopes that alliance members will work together to lead the development of innovation and entrepreneurship education in Shenzhen. By carrying out a variety of educational activities, the alliance will promote international and domestic exchanges in innovation and entrepreneurship education, and strengthen cooperation in the Greater Bay Area. Initiated by Tsinghua SIGS, the graduate school will serve as chair of the alliance. Currently, it consists of 12 member schools, including Tsinghua SIGS, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Shenzhen University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Science, Georgia Tech Shenzhen Institute, Tianjin University, Shenzhen Polytechnic, Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University Shenzhen Research Institute, and the Shenzhen University Town Management Office. The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Education Alliance of Shenzhen will strive to create synergies and join hands with society and with higher education institutes in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to explore new models of innovation and entrepreneurship education. It will also consolidate resources and pave way for the formation of an open ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship. |
