NORTH CHINA’S Tianjin Municipality has introduced a series of policies to help and protect autistic children. The city will improve autism screening for children under seven and include it in their health examinations. It will also aid children under seven confirmed with having autism to receive consistent rehabilitation training. The government announced that at least one designated rehabilitation facility, which can receive 50 children every day, should be established in every district in the city by the end of 2020, with four set up in the Binhai New Area. Every district is also asked to designate at least one or two schools and one or two kindergartens to pilot inclusive education for autistic children. Last year, Tianjin saw 1,361 autistic children receive assistance, which accounted for 63.4 percent of all disabled children receiving help in the city. (Xinhua) |
