Teachers share knowhow with Kashgar peers
    2020-08-05  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Shenzhen teachers and experts recently gave lectures to middle school teachers in Kashgar, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region through online training sessions that have been held every summer in recent years .

This year’s training session ran for a week with a total of 66 class hours. A total of 47 lecturers, including senior and highly regarded and experienced teachers from schools across Shenzhen, subject leaders, teacher workshop leaders, pedagogical Ph.D. holders and headmasters, gave extensive and practical training to some 8,000 teachers on such subjects as teacher’s leadership in classrooms, teaching efficiency, organizing seminars, as well as using multi-media technologies and digital teaching tools including PowerPoint slides and videos.

Xiong Hua, a physics teacher and researcher from Longgang District, helped the teachers clarify the basic concepts of physics required by the compulsory education syllabus. She stated that physics classes in this stage should inspire student’s interest and encourage them to put the theoretical knowledge learned from classrooms into daily practice.

Lecturers on the analysis of middle chemistry textbooks and curricular systems and the integration of information technology in classroom teaching methods were also given to the teachers during the sessions.

According to Xiao Hongchun, head of the Longgang District Teacher Development Center, the expertise and teaching skills of excellent teachers in Shenzhen are made accessible to Kashgar teachers thanks to the training sessions, which help solve their problems and improve their teaching. She hopes teacher from the two cities can further befriend each other and support each other in the long term to achieve a win-win situation in developing high-quality education.

This year’s training session was jointly held by the Kashgar and Longgang District education bureaus.
