Shenzhen to add 1.7 million housing units
    2020-08-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN plans to increase the proportion of residential land supply to 25 percent by 2035, said Wang Youpeng, chief of the city’s planning and natural resources bureau, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

On a radio program Tuesday, Wang disclosed some details of the city’s overall land and space planning (2020-2035), the compilation of which is expected to finish within the year.

More than 1.7 million new housing units of various types will be built over the following 15 years, including no less than 1 million units of public housing, according to Wang.

The city’s residential housing area will reach more than 720 million square meters, and the per capita housing construction area of permanent residents will reach more than 40 square meters by 2035.

Shenzhen plans to double the supply of residential land to 293.2 hectares this year, with 56 percent of the supply having been completed so far.

It is planned that by 2035, the per capita land for public service facilities in Shenzhen will reach 5 square meters, and the coverage rate of community public service facilities within 15 minutes’ walk will reach 99 percent.

This year, Shenzhen has added some 520.8 hectares of land for the construction of livelihood-related public facilities.

In terms of ecological environment, Shenzhen will have built 10 million square meters of green space, 2,500 kilometers of greenways and 1,000 kilometers of ecological corridors in the city by 2035.

Wang also disclosed that Shenzhen will have built more than 1,300 kilometers of rail transit including subway, tram and intercity railways that connect all areas of the city by 2035.
