ACTIVITIES themed around “designs on a path to build a moderately prosperous society” kicked off Tuesday at the Yantian International Creative Harbor in Yantian District, a subvenue of Shenzhen Design Week 2020.

Designers from the Guangdong-Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and other cities in China, representatives from institutions and invited guests attended the opening ceremony held at the subvenue Tuesday morning.

Wang Yan, representative of the event’s organizers as well as president of the Shenzhen Sphinx Cultural Industry Group, said at the opening ceremony that design has become an important engine for Shenzhen’s development, accelerating the upgrade of the city’s industries, culture and life. “Over the past 40 years, the city’s design history is also its development history,” said Wang.

A themed exhibition, named “designs on a path to build a moderately prosperous society,” takes design as a perspective for introducing Shenzhen’s cultural achievements over the past 40 years.

At the same time, the exhibition creates an exhibition mode integrating experiences, exchanges and interactions, and cooperative transactions from the perspective of building an ecological chain and a platform to display products, technologies, talents, and trends.

The exhibition is being held at Yantian International Creative Harbor and will run through Sunday Aug. 30.

After the opening ceremony, a forum was held where artists and representatives from companies and institutions shared their insights on the relation between innovative design and industrial development. Among artists was independent artist Feng Du, and business representatives included Li Haibo, Secretary General of the Shenzhen human factors engineering research institute.
