Students watch patriotic film and share feelings
    2020-09-02  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

On August 26, a group of students and parents were invited by Shenzhen Zhanyun Classroom to watch the epic war film “The Eight Hundred” and then exchange views and understandings about the movie. The event was attended by Wang Fang, general secretary of the Green Pine Care Fund.

Directed by Guan Hu, “The Eight Hundred” was about eight hundred Chinese soldiers in 1937 fighting under siege from a warehouse in the middle of the Shanghai battlefield, completely surrounded by the Japanese army.

“’The Eight Hundred’ epitomizes the ordeal and humiliation in the previous century of Chinese history and symbolizes the Chinese nation’s fight in courage and hope,” said Ji Chao, founder of Shenzhen Zhanyun Classroom and a visiting scholar to Yale University as he explained the historic background of the story and the battle, adding that we should always remember their sacrifices and the hard-won victory.

After the film, Yang Qixuan, a graduate of Nanshan International School, told the reporter, “I’ve always wanted to watch this film. Thanks to Zhanyun Classroom for organizing this event. I have gained a deeper understanding of the anti-Japanese war and realize that we should not take our lives for granted because martyrs sacrificed their lives for this.” (Yang Mei)
