Han Ximin ximhan@126.com SOUTHERN University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) ranked between 251st and 300th among universities in the world, according to the World University Rankings 2021 released by Times Higher Education (THE) on Wednesday. It has also moved up to 8th place among mainland Chinese universities and it is the first time that SUSTech has entered the top 300 of the THE World University Rankings, sources from the university showed. SUSTech first entered the THE World University Rankings in 2018, and this is the third year in a row that it has been ranked in the top 10 of mainland universities. For the rankings this year, 1,527 universities from 93 countries and regions, including 91 universities from the Chinese mainland, are on the list. SUSTech’s improvement in the rankings demonstrates its significant progress in such a short span of time. The THE World University Rankings is seen as one of the most balanced and comprehensive global rankings, with 13 separate performance metrics covering the full range of core activities for research-intensive universities: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. SUSTech continues to perform well in citations and international outlook. Knowledge transfer rose by 38.2 percent and research by 49.8 percent, the ranking result showed. Shenzhen University joined the rank of world universities in the ranking between 401st and 500th and took 18th place among mainland Chinese universities. |
