FOR those coming from the extreme edges or furthest districts of the city, such as Guangming, Shenzhen’s Metro service has proven a blessing. In the past, a bus ride would take 40 to 90 minutes just to get to Longhua. And it could take two to three hours to go to the Shenzhen airport. Now, as of Aug. 18 when Line 6 and 10 began operation, things have certainly changed for the better, and many headaches which thousands of people had to suffer on a day-to-day basis due to overcrowded transportation and long-bus-route services are now avoided.

With Line 6 as an example, it just takes minutes to arrive into Longhua District from Guangming. For those who live in Guangming, their travel time to the Science Museum Station is only 40 to 45 minutes. Not bad! In the past that took closer to two hours’ travel time.

The Shenzhen Metro is one of the best I’ve seen in comparison to other cities. Shenzhen public transportation has proven to be a miracle in great functionality, fluidity and ease of use.
