Horse hotel lets tourists sleep in a stable
    2020-09-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AN unorthodox U.K. hotel is allowing horse lovers to get even closer to their favorite animal — by spending the night with one in a converted stable. And guests are ponying up for the privilege.

For US$250 per night, equine enthusiasts stay with either a Friesian horse or Shetland pony in a suped-up horse stall outfitted with a double bed and bunk bed, mini fridge, microwave and an en-suite shower and toilet, according to Tracey Alexander, owner of Black Horses Ltd. in Cartmel, Cumbria, where the “Stable Stays” experience is offered.

Meanwhile, Seabiscuit sleeps in an adjacent accommodation with bales of hay and an automated water trough — that’s partially separated with a transparent divider.

But the neigh-cation goes beyond merely sharing a stable and a roll in the hay. Guests are invited to feed their four-legged flatmates from the Black Horse’s feed buckets and brush them using a luxury grooming kit. And if that requires too much effort, grooming and feeding sessions can even be accomplished from the comfort of the visitor’s bunk.

Since the animals’ nocturnal noises can make it difficult to get shut-eye, Alexander warns potential guests that “horses don’t sleep like we do. They’re up and down during the night and can often be heard wandering around and munching away.” (SD-Agencies)

Texas mom severely burned when hand sanitizer bottle explodes

A woman in the Round Rock city of Texas is recovering in intensive care after her hand sanitizer allegedly caught fire when she was trying to light a candle on Sunday.

Kate Wise, who was left with severe burns to her entire body, said she put on hand sanitizer that she keeps handy to protect herself and three daughters from COVID-19.

The flame from the candle allegedly made contact with the off-brand sanitizer bottle and it exploded.

“It can be something as small as lighting a candle,” Wise told local news station WHOU from her hospital bed. “Because of the hand sanitizer, it just lit my whole everywhere I had hand sanitizer on my hand, it just lit my hand with fire.”

“And it obviously went all over my face,” she furthered. “And, in like a matter of five seconds, my whole body was just consumed in flames.”

Her two youngest daughters ran to neighbors to get help, while she managed to get her burning clothes off and pulled her disabled daughter and pets from the home.

Around 8 p.m., paramedics were dispatched to the home and transported Wise to a hospital in nearby Austin, with burns on 18% of her body,

“It’s something that you never want your kids to see,” Wise said. “Like, you just being up in flames so I think that part kind of killed me just because it’s something I never wanted them to have to go through.”

The Round Rock Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.

In the meantime, Wise’s friend, Kathryn Bonesteel in Houston, launched a GoFundMe page to help her with medical expenses.

As of Friday afternoon, the crowdfunding campaign raised $3,627 of its $100,000 goal.
