While many may be praised for their actions during this time, none so much as the brave and selfless medical workers who have both traveled to Hubei and worked in isolation wards on hospitals around the country,” the school board said in a statement. “We are thankful to be able to offer support and recognition of our valiant medical staff and their families both now and in the future in this way,” the statement said. The school announced its bursary policies in March and four students were chosen as the first batch to win the bursary as the new semester opened on September 1. They all went through standard admissions procedures. The bursary of 100 percent tuition will be offered to the students for the duration of their Preparatory School education. Students’ tuition will be funded throughout the remainder of that education phase (e.g., if a student joins in Prep 1, their tuition will be paid through the end of Prep 6). “My parents were very busy during the pandemic outbreak. They did not have much time to take care of me and I stayed at home for online courses in the past months,” said one of the bursary winners surnamed Yao. Both his parents work at the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention. He learned about the Bromsgrove School through an online information session and is looking forward to his new school life there. A medical worker surnamed Qu said he and his wife worked at the front line in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and was glad that his child won the bursary. “I expect my child to find his own way of learning and potential in the school,” the father said. Bromsgrove School, founded in 1553, is a co-educational independent public school in the Worcestershire town of Bromsgrove, England. Mission Hills International School (MHIS) and Bromsgrove School in the United Kingdom joined hands in September 2016 to relaunch MHIS as Bromsgrove School Mission Hills in Shenzhen. Its senior school division opened in September. |
