To celebrate Teachers’ Day, which falls on Thursday this year, Shenzhen Concert Hall has arranged for a public-benefit concert to be staged on the Shenzhen campus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK-SZ) that day.

Five young artists will perform such classical Chinese pieces as “The Clouds Chasing the Moon,” “Flowers by the Moonlit River on a Spring Night,” “Fighting the Typhoon” and “Horseracing” on pipa, zheng, erhu and ruan. They will perform in solo, duet and quintet forms.

Collaborating at the concert will be members from CUHK-SZ’s Chinese instruments ensemble, chorus and orchestra, who will perform chamber music, Chinese music and songs.

“Chinese music, together with other forms of traditional Chinese culture and art and Chinese brands, has been embraced by the young generation in recent years,” said Chen Zilan, spokesperson of Shenzhen Concert Hall. “CUHK-SZ has been active in cooperating with local cultural and art institutions since its founding, which contributes to the cultural diversity of our city. This concert is just in time for the students to express their gratitude to their teachers.”

The Shenzhen Concert Hall has presented on campus a series of public-benefit concerts since 2012.

They have brought music to migrant children in Dapeng Central Primary School, to special-needs children at Yuanping Special Education School, and to students at other local schools.

Meanwhile, the concert hall’s Beautiful Sunday concert on September 20 will present a multimedia chamber music concert for fans.

Its Afternoon Music Time series will present piano, accordion and Chinese music at the venue’s chamber theater on Saturdays this month.
