Early developed Bagualing area to be upgraded
    2020-09-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Bagualing area in Futian District, an urban area from the city’s early development that is still crowded with old factory buildings, will be upgraded with well-designed facilities for education, medical treatment, businesses and more, the city’s planning authority said recently.

The area was marginalized while the rest of the city enjoyed rapid development over the past years, but an ambitious development plan will put the area under the spotlight again.

According to a plan by the Shenzhen Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, a junior high school with 24 classes and a school combining junior high and primary education will be set up, while two primary schools and five kindergartens will be built in the neighborhoods. It will have eight venues and places for sports and activities including six to be built and one to be expanded. The largest sports ground will cover 5,000 square meters.

Five day care centers for elderly people, each at least 750 square meters, will be set up within neighborhoods. A home for the elderly with a floor space of 6,000 square meters is under planning.

In the development plan of Futian District, the area will be a national pioneering area for piloting fintech by creating a space for a cluster of fintech enterprises and research institutions.

In transportation, Bagualing Station is an interchange station of Metro Line 6 and Line 7.

A commercial facility of 500,000 square meters for shopping, entertainment, offices and dwelling will be built near Bijia Hill. It will connect with the hill and the nearby Shenzhen Sports Center through aerial corridors.

Shenzhen Shum Yip Group will be responsible for the space development while China Ping An Group will take charge of industrial planning. The two companies have already started land requisition in the area. (Han Ximin)
