PAFC tower running starts application
    2020-09-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Ping An International Finance Center (PAFC), Shenzhen’s highest skyscraper, will hold its third tower running event, titled PAFC International Vertical Marathon Masters, on Oct. 25.

Sports enthusiasts born between Oct. 25, 1965 and Oct. 25, 2002 are welcome to apply for climbing the 547.6-meter high skyscraper for the whole route (116 floors, 3,201 steps). Drinking water and first aid will be provided on certain floors.

The organizers will accept only 250 entries for amateur runners. The champion will be awarded 9,000 yuan in cash, the first runner-up 7,000 yuan and second runner-up 5,000 yuan, before tax. Male and female runners will be awarded respectively.

The event also has a professional category for the top runners of the Asia-Pacific Vertical Marathon Association (AVA) in 2019. The runners are not allowed to apply for the amateur category. The champion will be awarded 20,000 yuan in cash, the first runner-up 14,000 yuan and second runner-up 10,000 yuan, before tax. Male and female runners will be awarded respectively.

Runners who will have visited heavily epidemic-stricken countries, cities or areas from Oct. 11 to Oct. 24 will not be permitted to participate.

After runners receive a message from the organizers confirming their acceptance for the event, they should have a nucleic acid test from Oct. 19 to Oct. 24 and only those with negative results are allowed to attend the running. Runners should upload the results on a website designated by the organizers starting Oct. 22 and then present the original copy of the results at the event.

The running event is authorized by the AVA and the Towerrunning World Association (TWA). The AVA is a joint organization of organizers of the vertical racing events in China, Singapore, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States. The TWA is the only worldwide governing body for this kind of running discipline and is responsible for regulating and promoting stair races on a worldwide basis.
