Nature festival attracts over 20,000 from GD, HK, Macao
    2020-09-30  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A three-day nature education festival wrapped up in Guangzhou on Saturday, having attracted more than 20,000 primary and middle school students and families with children from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, stated the Forestry Administration of Guangdong Province.

The participants experienced a handful of nature-related educational activities such as drawing, plants categorizing, bird watching, handcrafting, and performing at the festival. A total of 35 public nature schools from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, including Guangzhou Haizhu Wetland Nature School, Yingde Xianhu Outdoor Nature Education Camp, and the Society of Entrepreneurs & Ecology Pearl River Project Center, were invited by the organizer to hold activities.

Citizens also got in touch with nature through the exploration and appreciating of animal specimens on display, music staged at a small concert, and solving jigsaw puzzles on the sidelines of the nature festival.

The Forestry Administration of Guangdong Province has rolled out a series of measures to jointly build a shared platform on nature education with Hong Kong and Macao, including holding nature festivals, nature lectures, and hosting a nature education season, and has designated Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Shaoguan as demonstration areas for promoting nature education. The administration will keep improving the service ability of nature education bases in Guangdong and will introduce nature education to more primary and middle schools and universities.

According to a staffer of the administration, Guangdong will call for cooperation across the society to build a crossover nature education platform, establish a network of nature education bases across the province, and promote a series of top nature education brands at home and abroad.
