Students gain knowledge on bees
    2020-09-30  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

How do bee families live? How to raise bees and collect honey? The answers to these questions were offered by a science-popularized exhibition at an event of the 1st Shenzhen (Luohu) Science-popularized Month. The exhibition concluded on September 25 at the Affiliated School of Luohu Education Institute.

Students from the Affiliated School of Luohu Education Institute and Honghu Primary School excitedly entered a world of bees by viewing information display boards and objects a few days ago.

Several display boards in the exhibition show detailed information about the types of bees, roles of bees in families, the body structure of bees, the ways bees communicate, and bee culture, among other topics.

Li Sun, the principal of the Affiliated School of Luohu Education Institute, listened to the explanations by Dr. Zhang Weizhe from Fairy Lake Botanic Garden and learned together with students. Students are attracted by Dr. Zhang’s abundant practical experience and humorous expression, and broadened their horizons by having raised various questions to him.

Students at the primary level were interested in the structure of bees and the roles in their families, while students at the senior level attentively observed models of bees and learned about related tools like protective clothing used for raising bees and collecting honey.

The COVID-19 pandemic reminds people to again realize the importance of an ecologically sound environment and the close relationship of ecology and lives.

The science-popularized exhibition tour is one of six brands of scientific innovative education in Luohu District. In addition to the exhibition tour, the other five brands include scientific innovative series courses, scientific and technological summer (winter) camps, the Luohu Science and Technology Innovation Competition, science-popularized volunteer teams, and featured schools for scientific innovative education.
