Longhua: Old Hakka town in tune with new culture
    2020-10-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

BEFORE Longhua District was established in 2017, it used to be part of Bao’an District. Longhua is renowned for its Hakka roots which can be traced back 600 years ago.

Qilin dance and Hakka songs are popular local folk performances and have been listed as provincial and city-level intangible cultural heritage items respectively. More than 100 centuries-old diaolou buildings, formerly fortified multi-storey watchtowers in rural villages, can still be found in Guanlan Subdistrict. Guanlan Old Street, which used to be called “Little Hong Kong,” was one of the four historical markets in Shenzhen from the 18th century to the early 20th century.

Now, the Shenzhen North Railway Station, the biggest railway station in the city, is situated in Longhua. The Guanlan Original Printmaking Base is an important cultural facility connecting printmakers from all over the world, the Mission Hills Resort is a top choice to enjoy your holiday and Dalang Fashion Town heads for the position of an international fashion industrial cluster.(SD News)
