Lang Lang announces wife’s pregnancy
    2020-10-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AFTER more than a year into their marriage, Chinese classical pianist Lang Lang announced that he and wife Gina Alice Redlinger will be welcoming their first child.

The pianist shared the good news on social media Thursday by sharing a drawing of a baby next to a grand piano that his wife drew, writing, “I am so excited to announce that Gina and I are expecting our first child. We could not be happier to welcome our new family member to the world.”

Redlinger shared the same photo on Instagram several hours later, writing, “Parents-To-Be! We’re very blessed to have the little angel come to our family. We appreciate for all your congratulations and kind wishes.”

When contacted by the media, Lang stated that he is absolutely elated that they are having a child, adding that they will be happy with having either a son or a daughter.

“My wife and I could take turns playing Mozart, Bach, Chopin and other classical music as part of the baby’s prenatal education,” he said with a laugh.

The 38-year-old married his Korean-German girlfriend, who is 12 years his junior, in June last year.

Meanwhile, a movie about Lang Lang’s life is in the works, which will cover the journey from his childhood in China to the top of the classical music industry. Oscar-winning filmmaker Ron Howard is directing the biopic. The project is based on Lang’s memoir “Journey of a Thousand Miles.”
