A TOTAL of 180 enterprises and teams from six industries have stood out at the industry finals of the 12th China (Shenzhen) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition after an intense six-month contest, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported Thursday.

The industry finals cover six industries, namely electronic information; Internet and mobile Internet; biomedicine; advanced manufacturing; new energy, energy conservation and environmental protection; and new materials.

Two first-prize winners, including one from the enterprise category and the other from the team category, were selected for each industry.

The 12th China (Shenzhen) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was launched April 21 this year, and 276 projects made it into the industry finals.

The competition, founded in 2009, is sponsored by the Shenzhen Municipal Government and the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and undertaken by the Shenzhen Municipal Science, Technology and Innovation Commission.

It is the first municipal innovation and entrepreneurship competition in China, and has attracted more than 20,000 projects since its inception.
