Claim your Lianhua Hill Glades Music Festival tickets

The Sixth Lianhua Hill Glades Music Festival will soon bring five free performances to Lianhua Hill on Nov. 7 and 8. Free tickets will be rolled out in three batches and audience members can apply for the tickets at 10 a.m. Oct. 29, 30, and Nov. 3 on the organizer’s WeChat account “szftjsf.”

Chinese movie scores

The China Film Symphony Orchestra will play scores from classic Chinese movies.

Time: 8 p.m., Nov. 6

When Beijing opera meets symphonies

A local youth symphony orchestra will collaborate with a local youth Beijing opera troupe to perform a Beijing opera show.

Time: 3 p.m., Nov. 7

Chinese and foreign movie scores

The China Film Symphony Orchestra will play scores from classic Chinese and foreign movies.

Time: 8 p.m., Nov. 7

‘Maximus Musicus’

The EPO Wind and String Orchestra from Beijing will play music from the Icelandic children’s franchise “Maximus Musicus.” The franchise, which includes books, CDs, DVDs and family concert programs, is aimed at introducing symphonic music to children. The story and part of the music was written by Hallfridur Olafsdottir, principal flautist of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra (ISO). The books are illustrated by Porarinn Mar Baldursson, a violist in the ISO.

Time: 3 p.m., Nov. 8

Operas and poem recital

The symphony orchestra, opera troupe and choir of China National Opera House will present a night of classical music, operas and a Chinese poem recital. Veteran actor Pu Cunxin, vice chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and chairman of the China Theater Association, will recite a poem to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Futian District.
