Longgang developing on a fast track
    2020-10-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SITUATED in the center of the Shenzhen-Dongguan-Huizhou circle, Longgang District has grown in the past 40 years from a less-developed area of Shenzhen to a district with a robust economy and a nice environment.

Established in 1993, Longgang is an important base for high-tech, advanced manufacturing, logistics and financial industries of Shenzhen. The Baolong Biomedical Innovation Pilot Zone is listed as one of the five biomedical industrial parks in Shenzhen. The first drone test field in South China has been put into use in Longgang. The construction of the Universiade AI Town is accelerated. The China South City’s e-commerce industrial park is designated as a national e-commerce demonstration base.

Longgang is also known as the capital of Hakka in the Pearl River Delta as the Hakka ethnic group has thrived there for 300 years. The district has produced wonderful achievements in its efforts to develop cultural and sports industries with the opportunities created by the 26th Summer Universiade in 2011. In the past nine years, Longgang has hosted hundreds of high-end sports events, such as the Canadian Women’s Hockey League, the WTA Shenzhen Open and the ATP Shenzhen Open, and has grown into one of the top districts in China in terms of sports events.(SD News)
