SOUTHERN University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) ranked 36th in the world and first among Chinese mainland universities in the QS Top 50 Under 50 Rankings released recently. It was the first time for the university to enter the list. First published in 2012, the QS Top 50 Under 50 ranks the best universities in the world which are under 50 years old, allowing some of the world’s top young universities to shine. Since 2015, it has tripled its range to include the Next 100 Under 50. The QS Top 50 Under 50 ranks universities on key indicators including Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per Faculty, Faculty to Student Ratio, International Faculty Ratio and International Student Ratio. As a young university celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, SUSTech has been listed in several important world rankings. Times Higher Education (THE) ranks SUSTech eighth on the mainland and 33rd in Asia in its Asia University Rankings 2020. In the 2021 THE rankings, it ranks SUSTech eighth on the mainland and between 251st and 300th in the world. Four disciplines including engineering and technologies, sciences, life sciences and computer sciences has entered the world top 300. In the 2021 university rankings by subjects of THE, seven disciplines of Shenzhen University entered the world top 500. Its engineering and technologies rank between 201st and 250th, while sciences and computer sciences take places between 251st and 300th.
