NORTHWEST China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region reported three new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 61 new asymptomatic cases Saturday, the regional health commission said yesterday. The confirmed cases were recategorized from previously reported asymptomatic cases. Among the asymptomatic cases, 46 were in Shufu County in south Xinjiang’s Kashgar Prefecture, while 15 were found in the neighboring Akto County of the Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture of Kizilsu. By Saturday, Xinjiang had a total of 54 confirmed cases including six in severe condition, as well as 219 asymptomatic cases. The Chinese mainland reported 21 new imported COVID-19 cases Saturday, bringing the total number of imported cases to 3,380, the National Health Commission said yesterday. Of the new imported cases, seven were reported in Gansu, five in Shanghai, three each in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Guangdong, and one each in Fujian, Sichuan and Shaanxi, the commission said in its daily report.
