WE have a serious shortage of parking places in Shenzhen. In certain districts there are now trials to make use of residential parking spaces that are empty during working hours and use empty office building spaces after office hours. It is a welcome initiative. I also would call upon all app developers to come with an app that can direct you to a parking facility in the area where there is sufficient space. In my country, the Netherlands, we still use the old system with electronic boards at the roadside which indicate the parking facility and its empty spaces. This is a good way to spread vehicles efficiently and reduce congestion. As Shenzhen is the “Silicon Valley of China,” I assume this should be an easy task for the city’s IT engineers and it will be much appreciated by motorists.
