Around 450 teenage makers from 98 teams representing more than 40 schools in Futian District showcased their creativity and ability to design and make things at the Teenage Makers’ Marathon held at the Huaqiang Plaza in Huaqiangbei, Futian District on November 14.

From idea conception and material purchasing to prototype building, outsource processing and a project roadshow, the Teenage Makers’ Marathon comprised almost all stages of a similar event that is open to adult makers. Contestants were first asked to use the tools provided by the event organizing committee to make a gadget on-site according to a given theme. They were then graded by a panel of experts based on their performance in the gadget making process and at the roadshow.

A key event of the third Huaqiangbei Science and Art Festival, the Teenage Makers’ Marathon aims to improve students’ abilities of creative thinking, problem solving and turning ideas into reality. (Yu Yuanfan)
