New COVID cases

TIANJIN Municipality reported one confirmed COVID-19 case and another asymptomatic case Tuesday, both locally transmitted infections, local authorities said yesterday.

Both people work at a logistics park in the Binhai New Area and are colleagues and roommates of a previously diagnosed asymptomatic case, according to the city’s center for disease control and prevention.

Alert for blizzards

THE meteorological authority yesterday issued an orange alert for blizzards in several provinces and advised residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.

Snowstorms will hit parts of Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning and Hebei provinces and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from yesterday morning to this morning, according to the National Meteorological Center.

Blast injures 34

AT least 34 people were injured when a restaurant in the city of Miluo, Central China’s Hunan Province, caught fire following an explosion yesterday, according to local authorities.

All the injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment.

More duty-free shops

HAINAN Province will construct two more offshore duty-free shops to promote tax-free consumption, according to the municipal bureau of commerce of Haikou, the provincial capital.
