Projects designed by students from Shenzhen University (SZU) and Shenzhen Polytechnic (SZPT) won prizes in the national final of the 6th China International College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition that wrapped up last Thursday in Guangzhou.

SZU’s two projects took silvers in the higher education group while SZPT’s two projects won gold medals in the vocational education group.

This is said to be the first time for SZPT to earn gold prizes in the competition. SZPT is also the only vocational college in Guangdong to earn two gold prizes in the final.

One winning project of SZU is a new furniture retailing system that supports using VR to showcase products.

Another of SZU’s projects, called CDNBye/ Cross-Platform P2P Streaming Engine for Videos, includes a technology that can reduce the cost of broadband by 30 to 60 percent so as to help increase video websites’ profits.

Two winning entries of SZPT are a purifying system and a capsule treating high blood pressure which offers better performance than traditional medicines.

The China International College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship competition has been successfully held five times since 2015.

It has become the world’s largest innovation and entrepreneurship competition for college students.

This year, the competition attracted 1.47 million projects from 4,186 colleges in 117 countries and regions, including 1,158 foreign colleges.

The competition was held both online and offline this year, due to the pandemic.
