ESTABLISHED Dec. 16, 2018, Shenzhen Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone is 110 kilometers east of Shenzhen and located in the southeastern part of Shanwei City. On the east tip of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the zone used to be an important area of the ancient Maritime Silk Road. In Sun Yat-sen’s 1919 book “The General Plan of National Construction,” he wrote that harbors and commercial ports should be built in this area. Historical figures such as Wen Tianxiang, Yu Dayou and Zheng Chenggong all visited there. In May 2011, Guangdong approved the establishment of the zone. Covering 468 square kilometers, including 145 square kilometers of land for construction and 42.9 kilometers of coastline, the zone gives priority to key and high-tech industries. At present, four industrial clusters in electronic equipment and product manufacturing, big data, new materials and new energy have taken shape. The zone aims to grow into a medium-sized town in 15 years. According to an earlier report, a high-speed rail will be built to link Shenzhen with the central district of the zone.(SD News) |
