SHENZHEN has rolled out 18 measures to benefit residents from Hong Kong and Macao who study, work, start businesses and live in Shenzhen, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

Specifically, six measures are related to studying, three to employment, four to entrepreneurship and the remaining five to life.

The measures for studying mainly involve Hong Kong and Macao young people coming to Shenzhen for exchanges, compulsory education, college scholarships and vocational education cooperation.

Concerning employment measures, they are mainly related to students from Hong Kong and Macao coming to Shenzhen for internship and employment, the scope of professional qualification certification and talent policies.

In terms of entrepreneurship, the measures are mainly related to entrepreneurship subsidies, innovation and entrepreneurship activities, Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao youth innovation and entrepreneurship bases, and entrepreneurship guidance funds.

The remaining five measures are mainly related to residence permit policy, talent housing security policy, transportation benefits, social insurance cooperation, and establishment of comprehensive service platforms.

Authorities in Shenzhen are striving to provide Hong Kong and Macao residents with the same treatment as Shenzhen residents when it comes to general welfare.

Under the new measures, the city will further support students from Hong Kong and Macao to do internships and work in Shenzhen, further support young people in Hong Kong and Macao to join in innovation and entrepreneurship activities, to provide residents in Hong Kong and Macao transportation benefits and further promote social insurance cooperation.

Moreover, the city will make it more convenient for students to receive compulsory education in Shenzhen.

Shenzhen will enhance scholarship support for Hong Kong and Macao students, make entrepreneurship subsidies available for the youth in Hong Kong and Macao, establish an entrepreneurship fund and further promote policies to guarantee talent housing.

Thirteen measures, for instance to further provide convenience for students in Hong Kong and Macao to receive compulsory education in Shenzhen, are innovative moves crafted by the city, Cao Sai, deputy director of the city’s Greater Bay Area office, said. (Wang Jingli)
