ACTRESS Julianna Margulies has joined Apple’s “The Morning Show” Season 2. The three-time Emmy winner will play Laura Peterson, a news anchor at the fictional UBA network. She teased the announcement in an Instagram post early Wednesday. Margulies is the fourth new cast member to come aboard “The Morning Show” for Season 2, joining regulars Greta Lee and Ruairi O’Connor and guest star Hasan Minhaj. She’s set to appear in a majority of the episodes. Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Steve Carell, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Bel Powley, Karen Pittman and Desean Terry are all set to return. Production is underway on the second season, though Apple hasn’t set a premiere date for the series. “The Morning Show” ended its first season on a cliffhanger, with network brass cutting off the broadcast feed as morning anchors Alex (Aniston) and Bradley (Witherspoon) were coming clean with viewers about their employer’s toxic workplace culture and the coverup of a sexual assault committed by former anchor Mitch (Carell). The second season will deal in part with “escaping from the wreckage” of those revelations, said showrunner Kerry Ehrin. Margulies most recently had a recurring part on Showtime’s “Billions.” (SD-Agencies) |
