TEN theatrical scripts have been named the winners of the 2020 Golden Hedgehog College Theater Festival, an annual student theater festival launched in 2001, as announced by the committee of the festival yesterday.

Winners include “Paradise” by College of Humanities of Guangzhou University, “Father’s Puppet Show” by Communication University of China, Nanjing, and “Xiucai and His Wife” by the National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts.

Joining in the project as judges were theater veterans, including Yang Qianwu, the secretary-general of the Beijing Theaters Association; director Lin Yinyu; and Song Baozhen, director of the theater research center of the China National Academy of Arts.

Due to the pandemic, this year’s event was moved online with forums, workshops and shows.

Organized by the Beijing Theater Association and Chaoyang District Cultural Center, the annual festival attracted over 25,000 students from 1,100 universities in China. Nearly 300 theatrical productions have been staged over the past 19 years. (China Daily)
