Aurora night ushers in Christmas season
    2020-12-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AURORA, a spectacular natural light show that occurs when electrically charged particles from the sun collide with gaseous particles already present in the earth’s atmosphere, is said to bring luck to those who witness it. However, this stunning multicolored display can only be seen near the earth’s northern and southern magnetic poles.

An aurora-themed thank-you feast was staged at the Shenzhen Marriott Hotel Golden Bay on Sunday evening to usher in the Christmas season and hope for a prosperous new year for guests.

A choir performed familiar carols in the romantic setting of artificial snow, while ballerinas danced to the dazzling backdrop of a silver Christmas tree and a stunning display of lighting mimicking the aurora.

“The year 2020 is quite unusual and has presented unforeseen challenges for the hotel industry,” said General Manager Zhang Yingjie during the celebration. “We have experienced a very ‘cold winter’ and also seen hope for recovery.

“With the hotel’s lawns being refurbished, and an ocean-themed park developed by Kaiser to open in May next year, we have good reason to be optimistic.”

To celebrate the joyful season, the hotel also created a Christmas-themed afternoon tea package, which includes a Christmas log cake, strawberry mousse cake, raspberry mushroom mousse cake, green apple mousse, cherry chocolate brownies, macaroons, salmon sandwiches and many other yummy desserts.
