New scenic spots at botanical garden
    2020-12-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Fairy Lake Botanical Garden in Luohu District has opened two new scenic spots, specifically a fern conservation center and a wonderland called Youxi Valley.

The fern conservation center, covering an area of nearly 20,000 square meters, has over 1,000 types of ferns. The Youxi Valley scenic area includes a moss garden, a spore plant area and a small wetland.

The fern conservation center holds nationally protected wild plants and endangered species, together with a hall introducing information about ferns.

The Youxi Valley scenic area, which is part of the garden’s spore plant area, includes a stream that runs about 300 meters. Visitors can embrace nature by enjoying mosses, tall tree ferns, and rubber figs located on both sides of the stream. The stream’s water comes from Wutong Mountain.

The secluded area was battered by Typhoon Mangkhut in 2018. To restore the area’s landscape, a team with the Fairy Lake Botanical Garden made full use of the valley’s terrain and added tropical and subtropical plants to create the scenic area.(Wang Jingli, Han Yuewu)
