CHINA has decided to suspend flights to and from the U.K. over concerns related to a new strain of coronavirus, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin announced Thursday.
“After much consideration, China has decided to take reference from other countries and suspend flights to and from the U.K.,” Wang told reporters at a daily briefing in Beijing.
“China will closely monitor relevant developments and dynamically adjust control measures depending on the situation,” he said.
Countries across the globe are shutting their borders to Britain after the emergence of a highly infectious new coronavirus strain.
There are currently eight weekly flights between the Chinese mainland and the United Kingdom, according to aviation data provider Variflight.
China has already imposed strict entry requirements to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
