Shenzhen gives out Mayor’s Awards
    2020-12-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A TOTAL of 20 enterprises, organizations and projects on Wednesday won the 2019 Shenzhen Mayor’s Awards for their high-quality development in economy, culture, society, ecology, urban construction and administrative service.

Shenzhen Middle School won a special award for maintaining high education quality.

Shenzhen Airport Co. Ltd., Sunwoda Electronics Co. Ltd., a leader in lithium-ion battery production in the world, each won a gold prize in the category of economy.

The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital won the gold prize in the category of society for integrated medical development. Shenzhen Urban Transportation Planning and Design Research Center won the top prize in the category of management and the Shenzhen Municipal Office of the State Administration of Taxation won the gold prize in the category of service for its blockchain electronic invoice system.

The selection of applicants for the 2019 Mayor’s Awards has been expanded from the single category of enterprises to six fields that include the economy, culture and ecology sectors, according to the evaluation committee of the awards.

A total 112 enterprises and organizations applied for the awards, up by 70 percent over the previous year.

In the category of economy, the revenue of 49 applicants, or 68 percent, have surpassed 1 billion yuan (US$153 million). In the non-economy category, the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital and Shenzhen Middle School are both the benchmark institutions in their respective fields.

Among the enterprise applicants, 26 percent of them are high-tech enterprises, and 36 percent of them are from the strategic and emerging industries.

The blockchain electronic invoice system of the Shenzhen Municipal Office of the State Administration of Taxation is a breakthrough of Shenzhen in the application of blockchain technologies. In the two years since the first blockchain-based e-invoice was issued in August 2018, the city has issued 25 million e-invoices involving 25.9 billion yuan.

The blockchain-based invoice system ensures the secure sharing and storage of transaction records between all parties in the invoicing process, making it impossible for any party to tamper with invoice information.
