THE city’s rail, air, sea and land transportation terminals saw 1.64 million passenger trips during the three-day New Year’s Day holidays.

Specifically Shenzhen railway handled 1.18 million passenger trips, while Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport handled 330,000 passenger trips, according to statistics from the city’s transport bureau.

Due to the fine weather, the city-administered parks had received 1.36 million visitors over three days by 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Shenzhen Bay Park recorded 267,000 visits. It was followed by 220,000 at Lianhua Hill Park and 105,000 at Yangtai Mountain Park, statistics from Shenzhen Park Service showed.

During the holidays, Guangdong tourism raked in a total of 6.75 billion yuan (US$1.04 billion) and received 11.69 million visitors, about 75 percent over the same period of last year, indicating a recovery of the industry.
