SZ aims to be smart city global benchmark in 2025
    2021-01-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN aims to become a benchmark smart city in the world and a model city of Digital China by 2025, according to a document published recently by the Shenzhen city government.

To achieve the goal, the city will stress the underlying role of new infrastructure, the core driving role of data, innovative development of new models and new modes, and regional coordination and international cooperation, the document says.

In the construction of a smart city, the Shenzhen government has set its goal to build a trinity smart city, integrating e-administration, digital economy and digital residents, to help improve the urban governance system and the modernization of governance capacity, and thus satisfy the people’s yearning for a better life at a higher level.

In new infrastructure construction, the city will accelerate the building of telecom networks, big data centers, block chain infrastructure, and integration and the upgrading of AI (artificial intelligence) infrastructures.

The city will further improve the intellectual and digital levels of public service, and deepen the integrated linkage in urban governance.

To foster the new dynamic of the digital economy, the city will speed up cultivating data factor markets, push forward innovative development of the digital economy and implement the “city in the cloud” actions.

To ensure the construction of the digital city and e-administration, the city will give support in talent introduction, funding, project operation and cooperation mechanisms.

Shenzhen has taken the lead in smart city construction in the country. The city’s e-government performance ranked first among 32 key cities in the country, according to a survey on e-government performance of key provincial and city governments published in May last year.

The review, conducted by the e-government research center of the National Academy of Governance commissioned by the State Council, was based on five aspects: performance of online services, efficiency of online services, diversity of service methods, coverage of service items and accuracy of service guidance.

In September last year, Shenzhen’s experience and achievements in smart traffic construction were shared on Huawei Connect 2020 in Shanghai.

Leveraging technological advantages in 5G, cloud computing, AI and other emerging technologies, Huawei has cooperated with dozens of its partners to help the Shenzhen Municipal Government build a unified service and command system involving 42 government departments in the past years.
