Futian has a new children’s library
    2021-01-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The Xiangmi Branch of the Futian District Children’s Library was opened on December 28 in Xiangmi Park in Futian District. The Yiwen Children’s Literature House was inaugurated on the same day.

The library and the literature house constitute a “children’s literature town” which aims to pool child stars in literature and introduce children to a world of treasures for literature and reading.

The three-story library, which is hidden in the depths of a litchi orchard, covers an area of 1,000 square meters and provides convenient and comfortable services with elements of fairy tale characters.

With fairy tale author Zhou Yiwen as the head and writer Zhou Sese as the executive head, Yiwen Children’s Literature House of Futian District consists of a writing center, a publishing center, a reading center, a fairy tale center and an activity center.

The literature house is built to discover the shining characters in children and open a new world of love and fantasy for children. The “Junior Writers Class” launched by the literature house will be open to the public to train them in free public classes and to cultivate future young writers.

According to the library, in the near future it will organize various cultural events including lectures and exhibitions to create beautiful memories for child writers.

Additionally, the library will launch a series of cultural events on a weekly basis including large-scale children-themed exhibitions, parent-child activities for science popularization, science education activities guided by experts, concerts, talk shows and photography tours.

It is worth mentioning that the library is preparing for the “History of the Growth of a Generation of Literary Youth” forum and book exhibition, which is scheduled to be held in mid-February.

At the exhibition visitors will be able to get a glimpse at the history of the growth of young writers and poets in the 1980s and in the post-90s and post-00s. (Yang Mei)
