Sharing makes win-win
    2021-01-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

David Wang, G10, RDF International School

Throughout history, there have been many discoveries that have changed human thinking and understanding of the world. Scientific discoveries may contradict the field of knowledge of many people, but they are more accurate than previous explanations. I hold the belief that scientific findings should definitely be shared worldwide so more scientists can run their own experiments to ensure the validity of any new scientific developments that may benefit humankind in many ways.

Firstly, scientific finding sharing is beneficial to the health of human beings. In present days, the COVID-19 is spreading all over the world, and scientists are proceeding to conduct studies of vaccines that might be used for people who are already infected with the coronavirus. If a country discovers a hint to develop the vaccine and shares it with other countries, more scientists can test the efficacy so as to accelerate the development of the vaccine to stop the spread of the disease. Such development can truly benefit the whole world and save people’s lives. From my perspective, the huge problems that a government or individual cannot solve alone, such as stopping the spread of the COVID-19, can be solved if all the new discoveries are shared throughout the world.

Secondly, scientific finding sharing can drive the development of underdeveloped countries, so as to promote the development of the world economy. For example, since the introduction of information technology to Africa, the demand of the smart phone market, e-commerce platforms, and mobile payment services largely promote the countries’ economic development. The development of each country contributes to the development of the whole world.

In a word, due to globalization, our world becomes a collective group of different countries that are trading, helping and connecting closely with each other. Therefore, sharing makes win-win benefits, and we should encourage cooperation toward a common goal.
