WORK on the last piece of the Fulong bridge, a part of the Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway in Longhua District, Shenzhen, finished at 4 a.m. Wednesday. Construction on the bridge is particularly difficult as the bridge runs over the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, which is the busiest rail line in the Pearl River Delta, and has a train passing through every three minutes on average. The work has to wait until the rail line finishes for the day. At 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, workers started to install the last piece of the Fulong bridge. After 130 minutes of hard work, the last box girder was set in its place. The completion of the bridge lays the foundation for the completion and operation of the Ganzhou-Shenzhen rail line as scheduled. The 436.37-kilometer line is expected to be put into operation in 2021 and cut the trip between Shenzhen and Ganzhou in Jiangxi Province to two hours from six. (Kang Ning, Lu Jianjian) |
