SWISS luxury watch manufacturer Roger Dubuis on Monday officially opened a boutique in MixC Shenzhen Bay in Nanshan District. To mark its opening, the brand launches the Excalibur Knights of the Round Table Chinese Zodiac limited edition to pay tribute to a long-standing Chinese culture. Inspired by the 12 zodiac bronze animal heads, once decorations of a fountain in the Yuanmingyuan Garden in Beijing, the wristwatch combines traditional Chinese elements such as the 12 Earthly Branches, the Chinese zodiac signs and the eight trigrams. The watch has the eight trigrams making up the dial, flanked by the 12 zodiac bronze animal heads placed around where time-telling numerals are typically found. Created by meticulous gold carving techniques, the modern timepiece highlights every detail such as the hair, feathers, scales and eyelid textures and represents the brand’s superb craftsmanship and unerring eye for detail. The watch is equipped with the brand’s self-made RD821-6 automatic movement and displays the hours in the 24-hour mode, which means the hour hand makes a full rotation on the dial every 24 hours. The 12 zodiac signs, the Chinese characters of the 12 Earthly Branches and the eight trigram images on the dial are made of 18K rose gold. The wristwatch is limited to 12 pieces worldwide.
