SHENZHEN is trying to become a model international transportation hub through which the core cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area can be reached within 30 minutes, according to the 14th Five-Year Plan for Shenzhen Transportation Development released Tuesday.

Under the plan, high-speed rails will connect 90 percent of the core cities in the Pan-Pearl River Delta area and international travelers will make up 25 percent of total passengers of the Shenzhen airport by 2035.

By 2025, the cargo throughput at Shenzhen Port will reach 33 million TEUs and passenger turnover at Shenzhen airport will reach 70 million trips. The routes connecting with international cities will reach 100 and the length of the national high speed rail in Shenzhen will reach 220 kilometers. The network of intercity rails and Metro rails will reach 190 kilometers and 640 kilometers respectively.

In 2021, the satellite hall and B2 cargo yard at Shenzhen airport will be put into use. The Ganzhou-Shenzhen high-speed rail will be put into operation.

Regarding Metro construction, the city will push forward the construction of Line 10, Line 11, Line 14 and Line 22, which will extend to Dongguan and Huizhou.

The city will also put Sino-Europe export trains to Rotterdam and London into operation. It will also open train services for import products from the European Union.

The plan also points out the construction of a corridor cluster across the Pearl River to strengthen ties between the cities on both banks of the river. The city will speed up the construction of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link. The city is also studying the feasibility of extending the Outer Ring Road to the west bank of the Pearl River through a road and rail complex corridor across the Pearl River.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period between 2016-2020, the city opened 10 international routes every year and completed 254 kilometers of roads. (Han Ximin)
