David Fincher’s black-and-white “Citizen Kane” origin story leads the 26th annual Critics’ Choice Awards with 12 nominations, the Critics Choice Association announced on Monday. The Netflix film also led last week’s Golden Globes nominations with six nods, only to stall a day later with just one nomination (for Gary Oldman as best actor) by the Screen Actors Guild Awards. “Mank” fared far better with critics, and is up for best picture, actor (Oldman), supporting actress (Amanda Seyfried) and director (Fincher), among other categories. The film was trailed closely by Lee Isaac Chung’s Korean American drama “Minari,” which received 10 nominations, including best picture, actor (Steven Yeun), supporting actress (Yuh-jung Youn), director and screenplay (both Chung). Olivia Colman and Chadwick Boseman each received two nominations. She’s up for best supporting actress for “The Father” and was previously nominated for best actress in a drama for Netflix series “The Crown,” which is up for six TV awards, including best drama series. Boseman, who died of colon cancer last August, is nominated for best actor and supporting actor for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and “Da 5 Bloods,” respectively. Winners in both film and television will be announced at the group’s hybrid virtual/in-person on March 7 awards show, hosted by Taye Diggs on CW. (SD-Agencies) |
