THE Orchid Conservation & Research Center of Shenzhen, known as the “Valley of Orchids,” was listed by the Chinese Society of Forestry as a National Forest and Grass Science Popularization Base on Sunday. Located at the base of Wutong Mountain in Luohu District, the center is a key national institution for the conservation, research and popularization of orchidaceous plants. It accommodates various facilities, including a multimedia lecture hall, an orchid specimen pavilion and a nature education experience zone to fulfill its public interest mission and social responsibilities. With the help of a professional team consisting of full-time, part-time and voluntary members, the center launched several public projects, such as online exhibitions, classes on preparing specimens and natural science popularization campaigns on campuses, which have become major methods for the public to learn about orchids.
