Popular singer-songwriter Leehom Wang will livestream a concert at 8 p.m. Friday on Tencent’s four apps: QQ Music, Kugou Music, Kuwo Music and WeSing. The concert is free of charge.

Formally trained at the Eastman School of Music, Williams College and Berklee College of Music, Wang’s musical style is known for fusing Chinese elements (such as Beijing opera, traditional styles of ethnic minorities, Chinese classical orchestra) with hip-hop and R&B. In addition to his fusion music, he is also noted for singing love ballads with piano and string instrument accompaniment.

Wang holds honorary doctoral degrees from both Williams College and Berklee. He debuted in 1995 and since then has released 25 albums, with sales of over 50 million copies. He is also a four-time winner and 19-time nominee of Taiwan’s Golden Melody Awards.

He also acted in several films, including Ang Lee’s “Lust, Caution,” Jackie Chan’s “Little Big Soldier” and Michael Mann’s “Blackhat.” Wang was one of the first torchbearers for the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics and performed in the Olympics’ closing ceremony in Beijing.

In November 2008, Wang was selected to conduct the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra for its 2008 annual grand finale, being the first Asian pop musician to conduct the orchestra. The concert “Hong Kong Music, Leehom Wang” was held in the Hong Kong Cultural Center for three nights, with four shows, receiving CNN International coverage throughout.
