Provinces and municipality clear all COVID risk areas
    2021-02-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

NORTH China’s Hebei Province, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province and Shanghai Municipality, now have no medium- or high-risk areas for COVID-19.

Hebei’s provincial capital Shijiazhuang announced the decision to downgrade its last medium-risk district Sunday.

Shijiazhuang’s Gaocheng District was downgraded to a low-risk area yesterday after local communities found no newly confirmed cases during screening over the past two weeks, with all results coming back negative in district-wide nucleic acid testing.

Also yesterday, Heilongjiang’s Wangkui County, where cluster infections were reported in early January, downgraded its risk level for the virus as no newly confirmed or asymptomatic cases were reported over the past two weeks.

Shanghai on Friday downgraded the last medium-risk area to low-risk for the coronavirus after a resurgence of the disease in the city was brought under control.

Following the downgrade, the entire city of Shanghai is deemed low-risk for the epidemic, according to the city’s COVID-19 prevention and control group.

The mainland reported no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases Sunday, the National Health Commission said yesterday.

As of Sunday, no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases had been reported for a week, according to the commission.

The commission received reports of 11 new imported COVID-19 cases Sunday.
