Students welcomed back to school
    2021-02-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Public kindergartens, primary and middle schools in Shenzhen officially started the new term on Monday. To welcome the students, the city’s schools had prepared various activities.

As it was the 11th day of the first lunar month on Monday, festive vibes still lingered in the city. Many schools sent out red packets to their students on the first day of the new term.

The students of the Nanshan Experimental Educational Group Yuanding School received red packets containing wish cards, bookmarks, lollipops, and the school’s special-made coins.

“For the students, the start of a new term is a special moment. We want to give an impressive opening ceremony for the kids,” said Xie Huiping, headmaster of the school.

“We focused on the education of love at the ceremony. We want to help the kids to love and to be loved as love is the key to a happy life,” added Xie.

At the Pingshan Experimental School in Pingshan District, students received special red packets with vouchers that might allow them to be a one-day class monitor, give them a one time option to have the priority to select their seats, or a one-time pass from reciting texts.

At Baolong Foreign Language School of Longcheng Senior High School Education Group in Longgang District, the students were received by people dressed as four ox mascots.

According to Gao Hui, deputy headmaster of the school, the ox represents hard work, intelligence, progress and good luck, all of which are among the hopes the school has for its students.

The students of Lucheng Foreign Language Primary School in Longgang District wrote a letter to themselves five months into the future and put them into a mailbox at the school. The letters will be opened at the end of the school term.

On Monday, teachers of the Shenzhen Qianhai Harbor School received caricatures of themselves drawn by the students.

In addition, some schools have put their new campuses into service on the first day of the new term, including Futian District’s Xinsha Primary School and Xinzhou Primary School.
