Families in Luohu celebrate CNY in nature
    2021-02-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

While staying put during the Spring Festival, 72 families in Luohu District didn’t let time go by in vain; instead, they went bird watching, traversed greenways and observe plants.

Over the Chinese New Year, the Women’s Federation of Luohu District together with the Party-Mass Service Center for the Women and Children’s Social Organizations of Luohu District organized four nature exploration activities with three themes to provide families with educational and entertaining holiday opportunities.

On February 13, the second day of the Chinese Lunar New Year, the families together with leaders from the Women’s Federation went to the Shenzhen Mangrove Nature Reserve and received professional introductions on the world of wetland creatures.

Along the way, they discovered birds that they had never met and learned about their habitats and behaviors, which made the trip full of fun and surprises.

According to the organizer, the bird watching trip helped children to learn to respect lives and nature, and enhanced their awareness of the need for environmental protection.

On February 15, the fourth day of the Chinese Lunar New Year, families went to the Wutong greenway to explore unknowns in the floral world.

Families took part in an orienteering adventure, in which they were required to complete different challenges, such as looking for aromatic plants and coconuts of different shapes.

On February 17, families were invited to a “treasure box of plants” to observe nature, play games with nature and make artworks related to nature.

Participating parents thought highly of these activities. They believed these activities strengthened parent-child bonding, broadened children’s horizons and improved children’s capabilities in observation, exploration and cooperation.
