OVER the past decades, China has been steadily marching forward on the path of reducing poverty. In accordance with the Central Party Committee and the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee’s decision, Shenzhen has joined forces with rural Chinese areas in poverty alleviation work. In the last 30 years, the city provided a total of 120 billion yuan (US$18.6 billion) in relief fund and sent 8,048 talents to rural areas. The city has helped lift 42 counties and 3.4 million people out of poverty.
